About SSD/Linux
SSD/Linux is the Linux distribution for the OpenBlockS Series, developed by Plat'Home. The distribution is optimized to work under limited resources and fit on a small internal ROM, while offering all necessary functions for networking and peripheral devices. It is optimized for appliances.
The name of the distribution is derived from its place of development, Sotokanda in Tokyo, in imitation of BSD. It is published under a BSD-style open license. See the User's Guide for more information. While the OS uses a Linux kernel, most of the userland is taken from NetBSD.
You can either run the factory default environment that is preinstalled in the onboard ROM of the OpenBlockS, or customize the firmware to your own needs. On this page, we offer the latest firmware and precompiled application packages, as well as guides for customization and building your own appliances.
The OpenBlockS series is also supported by Debian, Fedora and NetBSD, and you can find installation guides here.
